Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can often exhibit behaviors that may be challenging for parents, caretakers, and educators, including repetitive and restrictive behaviors.
This presentation will discuss tips and techniques for understanding and managing a variety of challenging behaviors using evidence-based strategies for individuals of all ages.
Adolescence is a time filled with rapid changes. It can be difficult for children to adjust to their bodies and social landscape quickly transforming. This time may be particularly difficult for teens with ASD due to the unique challenges they face.
This presentation will provide an overview of the different aspects of sexuality development, outline the unique challenges for teens with ASD during this period, and introduce strategies that may help parents and caregivers assist teens with ASD. There will be a particular focus on safety in this presentation.
Identifying and Treating ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression in Individuals with Autism
70% of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have a co-occurring psychiatric diagnosis. In this talk, we will discuss three common co-morbid conditions: anxiety, depression, and ADHD. We will review how to identify potential symptoms, treatment approaches, and strategies for caregivers and care providers.
