Virtual Afterschool Art Program, Friends are We! Building Social Skills through the Arts

This virtual interactive after-school program will offer children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), from ages 3 up to 13 years old, with social skills development through the arts. The program involves the participation of students’ parents to learn skills taught and then to reinforce them at home and in their communities. Students will explore various visual art forms in an interactive small group setting.
 
The program is made in collaboration with the Children’s Museum of the Arts. Materials will be provided.
 

Integrated Transition Program

The program will focus on the development of independent life skills, including self-advocacy, independent living, communication skills, and strategies for developing positive relationships. Sessions include a variety of community-based outings, during which participants will put a previously learned skill into action. Parents will participate in a simultaneous support group, as well as a weekly session debrief, in which the participants will engage parents in the skill learned that day. 
 

Integrated Transition Program

The program will focus on development of independent life skills, including self-advocacy, independent living, communication skills, and strategies for developing positive relationships. Blended sessions virtual via Zoom and in person, will include a variety of community-based outings, during which participants will put a previously learned skill into action. Parents will participate in a simultaneous support group, as well as a weekly session debrief, in which the participants will engage parents in the skill learned that day. Financial Counseling / Asesoramiento Financiero

Objective: Sinergia is hosting Ariva's financial counseling services to offer one on one free financial counseling at our East Harlem office. Appointments will be 45 minutes long and must be arranged by contacting mchardiwall@sinergiany.org. No walk-ins allowed. An Ariva financial counselor will offer support for community members to reach the following goals:

- Budget Counseling
- Managing Debt
- Affordable Housing Counseling

Helping Youth with Learning & Organization

This presentation aims to help parents understand and help their children with the daily skills needed for school success. These skills, referred to as “executive functioning”, include organization, planning tasks, following directions, exhibiting self-control and remembering information. This presentation will provide information on supporting children's executive functioning in the context of supporting a child with a disability. At the end of the presentation, we will share resources for families and answer questions.
