Interns working in the SHORE Project
Sinergia’s Housing Opportunities Resources Enhancement (SHORE) Project is a partner with the NYS Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities, NYS Developmental Disabilities Planning Council and three other New York City based organizations; AHRC, Heart Share, UCP of New York State. They are part of a NYC Resource Consortium that develops new and creative housing and support services for individuals with disabilities. Sinergia’s SHORE Project will:
- Serve as a "one-stop" housing resource center to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, families, and advocates to learn about housing opportunities and support services, which will help them, achieve independence in community settings.
- Develop 10 housing and resources opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.
- Provide paid internships for persons with developmental disabilities that will create long term employment and foster their productivity
- Develop training workshops and a website on housing and resources.
- Develop and market products, publications in Spanish for non-English speaking consumers and their families.
- Collaborate and network with public, private housing entities, including Neighborhood Preservation Programs and community based housing and service organizations.
