One of the most important but least discussed IEP requirements are a student’s annual goals which identify what a student is expected to learn within a year. Annual goals should be measurable and consistent with a student’s needs and abilities. The clinic is designed to be collaborative where parents will not only understand why goals should be SMART but also check whether their child’s IEP meets this requirement. Then we will look at some sample letters to help you on your way to having a valid IEP that can hold a school accountable.

What to bring: All IEPs issued within past two years. For most parents this is the current IEP and the IEP of the year before.
